Wet Pebbles was inspired by my feeling of isolation during the pandemic. The dark clouds represent the deadly virus lurking around us, weighing heavy on our hearts. The sun breaking through is our ability to persevere and find positivity during our time apart from friends and loved ones. Rediscovering ourselves in the much quieter, slower times is the calm water foaming over the solid rocks in the shoreline.
The semi-precious stones of Lapis Lazuli, Bloodstone, Abalone, crushed glass and mica were incorporated intuitively. Many feel that Lapis Lazuli quickly releases stress, bringing deep peace. It brings harmony and deep inner self-knowledge. It encourages self-awareness, allows self-expression and reveals inner truth, providing qualities of honesty, compassion and morality to the personality. It bonds relationships, aiding in expression of feelings and emotions. Using Lapis seemed quite appropriate for this painting!
